Red dot next to the profile on the Kakaotalk

by SenseChef 2015. 2. 22.

What does that red dot mean on the Kakaotalk ?

One of my acquaintance called me for question on the Kakaotalk. Recently he found one red dot just right next to the profile photo.

My Kakaotalk also shows one red dot for some specific people only. Does this mean that somebody is just on-line with Kakaotalk ? or Is this showing any change of somdbody's personal information ?

Unfortunately there isn't enough information for this on the Kakaotalk homepage. Therefore I tested this for verification.

Red dot means something has been changed on the Kakaotalk !

Recentlyh Kakaotalk released new application version numbered 4.7.5. Some device is not ready because different time schedule is being applied to each device.

Next photo shows red dot on somebody's profile picture while others do not have any red dot.

On my test, this red dot is appeared when somebody changes his/her profile photo or status message. Therefore red dot notify us that somebody changed their somet information.

Now we don't need manually to check somebody's profile for knowing anything changed. Just seeking red dot is enough.

Change of profile picture or status message is very important measure to know somebody's emotional condition. Thus Kakaotalk's notification feature will give more strong human relationship having better understanding each other respectively.

Profile picture frame is changed to the circle from rectangular.

In new Kakaotalk application, frame of profile picture has been changed to the circle. This seems to be pretty in the shape, but still old rectangular frame is welcome to me yet.

[Circle styled profile picture frame in the new version]

[Rectangular styled profile picture frame in the old version]

Change of Setup icon !

Finding location of setup icon in the new version is not quite easy. In the old version, setup icon was located in the mid area with the large sized.icon

But in the new version, setup icon was relocated to just below the notification bar. If you can not find setup icon, eye it just below the notification bar.

Kakaotalk's user-centered updating policy is welcome. I hope Kakaotalk keeps surveying what users want to have. Their best customer support will lead Kakaotalk as a market leader in the mobile messaging service.
